Eva Geller, 90, has died in hospital after sustaining injuries during the Bondi beach terror attack on December 14 of last year.

A senior Jewish community source said Geller had been hospitalized repeatedly this year to treat those injuries. She recently returned to the hospital because of an infection. While there, she suffered a stroke and died.

Geller’s funeral is scheduled for Monday. A family spokesperson asked for privacy during the period of mourning.

New South Wales police confirmed they were aware of the death. A police spokesperson said officers are working with the coroner’s office and awaiting further advice. Premier Chris Minns called the news heartbreaking. He said his thoughts were with Geller’s family and the Jewish community. Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane described the death as a painful reminder of the trauma from last year's attack. She said the state must continue to support victims and first responders.

Naveed Akram, 24, and his father Sajid Akram, 50, opened fire on a Hanukkah festival crowd at Bondi beach on December 14, 2025. Fifteen people died in the shooting. Forty others were injured. Police shot Sajid dead at the scene. Naveed faces 78 charges, including 15 counts of murder and one count of committing a terrorist act. Investigators allege the attack was inspired by ISIS. Naveed remains before the courts.
