A court order issued last week requires all residents of a Mill Spring home to move out, leaving only the property owner in possession.

The directive stems from a consent judgment signed by a judge on October 27. This legal action was brought by Polk County on behalf of the state under Chapter 19 Nuisance Abatement laws. The target property is located at 113 Henry Ruff Road. Officials described the case as the final step in a civil lawsuit aimed at resolving long-standing issues.

Under the terms of the agreement, all nuisance activity must stop immediately. The owner is responsible for cleaning the site and bringing the property into full compliance within 365 days. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety noted that the property had generated numerous emergency calls and drug violations over several years.

Polk County Sheriff Tim Wright stated in a written release that the site had posed a threat to community safety. Wright said the resolution reflects a commitment to holding problem properties accountable. He also noted that the process restored peace of mind to local residents who had been fearful of the disturbances.

Wright expressed appreciation for the property owner's cooperation during the proceedings. He also commended the citizens of Mill Spring for working with law enforcement. The case involved a joint effort by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Mill Spring Township, and the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Nuisance Abatement Team.
