Gas prices in Los Angeles and Orange counties fell again on Wednesday.

The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped 2.5 cents to $5.938. This marks the 32nd consecutive daily decrease in the past 34 days. The current price is 10.7 cents lower than the average recorded one week ago. It is also 48.2 cents lower than the average from one month ago.

In Orange County, the average price fell 2.6 cents to $5.825. That represents the 33rd consecutive daily drop in the last 34 days. The price is 10.6 cents less than it was a week ago and 55.1 cents less than a month ago.

Despite recent declines, prices in both counties remain higher than a year ago. Los Angeles County drivers are paying $1.155 more per gallon than in November 2025. Orange County drivers are paying $1.078 more than at this time last year. The national average price dropped 2.6 cents to $4.123 on Wednesday, marking the 11th straight day of national decreases.

The current price levels are driven by a spike that began in late February. Prices have risen $1.244 per gallon in Los Angeles County since the joint U.S. and Israel war on Iran started on Feb. 28. The conflict pushed oil prices higher, which accelerated cost increases at the pump. Orange County prices have increased $1.189 per gallon since the start of the war. The national average has risen $1.141 per gallon since the attack on Iran began.

Both counties saw prices climb close to their record highs before the recent decline began. The record high was set on Oct. 5, 2022. Prices began falling after Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Sept. 28 that cheaper winter-blend gasoline would be sold immediately. This change moved the sale date forward from the customary Nov. 1 date.
