The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time in franchise history. They defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 on Wednesday night to take the series 4-1. The win ended a 57-year wait for a title in the state.

Milwaukee controlled the game at Tropicana Field. The team scored one run in the second and fifth innings before adding two in the sixth. Jacob Misiorowski pitched 5 and two-thirds innings without allowing a run. He gave up only two hits. The bullpen finished the game, conceding one run to secure the win.

This championship follows a regular season in which the Brewers won 103 games. That total is a franchise record. According to ESPN Research, the Brewers are the third team in MLB history to win 100 games and claim the World Series in the same year. The 1910 Athletics and 1969 New York Mets are the only other teams to achieve that feat.

Reaction from Wisconsin was immediate. Former Brewer CC Sabathia posted on social media, writing, "World Series Champions for the first time ever!! Soak it all in Milwaukee!!!" He later added a tribute to Bob Uecker. Wisconsin native J.J. Watt also celebrated the achievement. His posts included the message, "WORLD SERIES CHAMPION MILWAUKEE BREWERS!!!!"

Other local organizations joined the celebration. The Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks both shared posts congratulating the team. Wisconsin state athletic programs for basketball and football issued similar messages. Marquette University highlighted the historic nature of the win in its social media account.

Players from other leagues weighed in on the performance. St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright called the Brewers one of the best teams he has seen. He praised their lineup depth and pitching staff. Joey Votto sent regards to the "Cream City." Nike noted that a 57-year thirst had been quenched.

The Colorado Rockies also recognized the achievement. They noted that the Brewers won both the World Baseball Classic and the World Series in the same year. Local business Culver's Restaurants sent a message to the hometown team and the Rays.
