Wolverhampton Wanderers moved into second place in the Championship after a 2-1 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Wednesday evening. The win extends the visitors' unbeaten run to five matches and places them one point behind league leaders Middlesbrough.

The game followed a late script. Bristol City took the lead just after the half-hour mark. Scott Twine curled a free kick past the goalkeeper to give the home side a 1-0 advantage. The Robins held that lead for most of the second half.

Wolves manager Cesar Peixoto watched his team struggle in the first 30 minutes. He noted that his players created chances but failed to attack the ball effectively. The team appeared anxious in the final minutes of the first half, allowing City to maintain their lead.

Peixoto made adjustments at halftime. He told his squad to play with more aggression and to attack the spaces between the center back and full back. The strategy shifted the momentum immediately.

Sean Neave came off the bench to change the result. With eight minutes remaining, he tapped home a close-range shot following a parry by Bristol City goalkeeper Brad Collins. This was Neave's first senior goal. He pulled the score to 1-1.

Seven minutes later, Neave scored again. He deflected a header from Ladislav Krejci into the net, putting Wolves ahead 2-1. The late brace secured the points for the visitors in front of the Sky cameras.

Peixoto said the result felt deserved. He stated that his team was the better side for the full 90 minutes. He credited the players from the bench for pushing the team forward with the right mentality in the final stages.

"It's a great feeling," Peixoto said in his post-match press conference. "I think we deserved the win. We were the better team." He also praised Twine for his "amazing goal" that gave Bristol City the lead.

The result moves Wolves to 27 points from 14 games. Middlesbrough dropped to 28 points after losing to Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on the same night. Wolves have a chance to move above Boro when they travel to North Wales on Saturday at lunchtime.

Bristol City remains 15th in the table. They have six wins, eight defeats, and no draws this season. Norwich City hosts the Robins at Ashton Gate this coming weekend. A win would allow City to move to 11th place, depending on other results.
