NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series has become a common stop for established hip hop artists. Fat Joe joins that group with a new performance premiering Thursday, November 5.
The rapper last appeared on the program five years ago. He returns to the intimate setting to revisit his catalog and showcase material from his most recent album, Organized Rhyme. The announcement arrived Wednesday, confirming the lineup for the live session.
The performance is not a solo act. Fat Joe is joined by Remy Ma, Jadakiss, Stove God Cooks, Stevie Mackey, and Dre of Cool & Dre. Each guest has a specific role in the setlist. Remy Ma performs on Lean Back and All the Way Up. Jadakiss appears on New York and The Aroma.
The setlist also includes career staples such as Million Dollar Intro, Cocababy, and I Shot Ya. Music director Zo Harris leads the live ensemble. The group includes guitar, bass, and drums, with DJ Ted Smooth providing backing. Harris aims to offer fresh arrangements to the familiar songs.
The appearance follows a period where Fat Joe expanded his work beyond music. He released a book and co-hosts the Joe and Jada podcast with Jadakiss. The Tiny Desk session continues his connection to his Bronx roots through live performance.
