Prime Minister Vasile Tofan arrived in Kyiv on Monday, October 26, with three members of his cabinet. The delegation aims to finalize economic cooperation and address regional security concerns.

Tofan brought Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatîi, and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea to the Ukrainian capital. The group will join Ukrainian leadership for a series of high-level meetings.

The prime minister is scheduled to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, and Ruslan Stefanchuk, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. These talks will cover bilateral relations and the development of trade between the two countries.

Tofan and Koretskyi will also participate in the Kyiv International Economic Forum. The event focuses on investment opportunities and the expansion of economic ties, topics that align with the bilateral agenda.

Energy security remains a central focus of the trip. Tofan stated on October 12 that Moldova is considering purchasing natural gas from Ukraine to meet domestic needs. He confirmed his intention to discuss this possibility during the Kyiv visit.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Tofan on October 14 to review common energy challenges. Their conversation included preparations for the winter season and strategies to deepen sector cooperation.

Separately, Moldovan President Maia Sandu indicated her country is prepared to accept another wave of refugees from Ukraine. She stated Moldova is ready to receive people if severe humanitarian conditions prompt further departures.

The visit was confirmed by Moldovan government sources and reported by local media. The agenda explicitly includes the European Union accession paths for both Moldova and Ukraine as key discussion points.
