Houston Dynamo forward Jonathan Bond tied the franchise record for single-season clean sheets after his 1-0 victory over Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night. The win moved Houston into the top four of the MLS Western Conference standings. The team finished with its 13th shutout of the season, matching the records set in 2007 and 2023.
Defender Lucas Halter scored the only goal in the 26th minute. He headed in a corner kick from Mateusz Bogusz. The goal represented the 1,552nd of the MLS season, tying the all-time single-season record. Bogusz recorded his fifth assist of the campaign on the play.
Bond made six saves to preserve the result. He first denied Cristian Roldan in the 13th minute with a dive to his right. In the 41st minute, he blocked a shot from Jesus Ferreira with his chest. Minutes later, he pushed a long-range attempt from Albert Rusnak behind the goal. He also stopped a shot from Dejan Joveljic shortly after.
The Dynamo nearly added a second goal in the 65th minute. Bogusz delivered a free kick that bounced near the Seattle penalty spot. Halter reached the ball first but a defender cleared it just before the shot could be taken.
Bond secured the final save in the second minute of stoppage time. A deflected ball traveled toward the corner of the net. He moved across the goal line and parried the attempt to keep the score at 1-0.
Houston remains in the western United States for its next match. The team faces the Portland Timbers on Sunday, Nov. 1. Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m. CT.
