Bristol City manager Michael Skubala faces a difficult choice regarding the fitness of center back Luke McNally ahead of Saturday's match against Norwich City. The Irish defender has played in three of the team's last seven days, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming fixture. Skubala has stated that the final decision rests with the coaching staff and the medical department, who must weigh the benefits of his experience against the risk of a new injury. The manager has previously emphasized a desire not to place McNally in a position where he might pick up another issue, suggesting a cautious approach is likely.

The stakes are high for both sides as they enter the final games before the November international break. Norwich City entered the weekend on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Derby County 4-0 on Tuesday. Goals from Anthony Musaba, Edomon-Paris Maghoma, Darlin Yongwa, and Jovon Makama secured the victory for Philippe Clement's side. That win moved the Canaries up to 12th place in the Championship, placing them just five points behind the play-off spots. Bristol City, currently three places behind Norwich but separated only by goal difference, are also five points from the top eight. The teams are closely matched in the standings, setting up a competitive contest at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City have returned to a mixed form recently, recording one win, two draws, and three losses in their last six matches. The team suffered a defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday, which extended their home winless run to three games. Despite the recent struggles, the squad has been bolstered by the return of several players. Joe Williams, Rob Dickie, Elijah Adebayo, and Lorent Tolaj are all available for selection. Williams and Tolaj return after busy schedules, while Adebayo and Dickie come back from injuries. The team will still be without Gibson Yah and Noah Eile for the match against Norwich.

Predictions for the starting lineup suggest Brad Collins will retain his place in goal, despite scrutiny over his role in the Wednesday equalizer. The defensive line is expected to feature Cam Pring and George Tanner at fullback, with Pring recently praised for his recovery run and tackle. In central defense, Rob Atkinson is likely to partner Lisav Eissat, as Skubala may choose to rest McNally. If Dickie starts, his right-footed nature would offer balance, but his recent absence makes Atkinson a safer bet. There is also a possibility that both Atkinson and Dickie could start together.

In midfield, Jason Knight is expected to continue his record of starting every game this season. The Ireland international has been performing well in recent weeks. Jed Wallace may receive his first start since September on the right side, adding experience to the wing. Scott Twine is predicted to start on the left, having been the team's best player in the midweek match. Twine may drift into a central role as the team shifts its defensive shape. Joe Williams is likely to start in the central midfield alongside Knight, as the manager has indicated he is fit and ready for selection. The team has performed best when Williams is on the pitch this term.

The attacking options remain open, with Lorent Tolaj and Dom Ballard likely to form the striking partnership. Tolaj is not fully fit but has started the last three games, making him a strong candidate to continue. Elijah Adebayo is expected to start from the bench, as Skubala has suggested he is not yet ready for a full 90 minutes. Sam Bell may lose his place after the Wolves match, leaving Ballard and Tolaj as the most probable starters. This projected lineup forms a 4-4-2 shape, with the right-sided midfielder dropping deeper to support the backline as needed.
