Ollie Dewsbury scored three goals in four appearances for Farnborough FC. The 18-year-old striker is playing on loan from Bristol Rovers. He joined the National League South side on October 9.
Dewsbury started his loan spell with a brace in a 2-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge on October 17. He added to that total on Wednesday. Farnborough defeated Weston-super-Mare 2-1 in a match played in the 96th minute. The goal was initially credited to Mason Bloomfield. Farnborough later awarded the goal to Dewsbury. The sequence began with a low cross from Kasim Aidoo. Zac Whitelock headed the ball. Max Harris saved the effort. Dewsbury deflected a header that bounced loose. Bloomfield side-footed the loose ball into the net.
Bloomfield, 29, scored the first goal of the match. He spoke to the club media team after the game about the second goal. He said the first goal was definitely his. He said he would claim the second goal, but Dewsbury might have something to say. He said that was all he would say.
Dewsbury has been on loan four times since September 2024. He trained with Everton in July. Arsenal, Stoke City, Birmingham City, and Fulham also showed interest in him this summer. Everton declined to sign him. Club manager Steven Evans said in August that the Premier League club wanted to assess the player. Evans said the brief from Everton academy level was to continue monitoring his progress. Evans said the club loves Dewsbury and believes he has a good future. Evans said Dewsbury needs to settle back down and focus on being at Rovers.
Dewsbury made one appearance for Bristol Rovers this season. He played 12 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea Under-21s. The match was part of the Jersey Mike's Trophy. Evans discussed the loan move the day after it was confirmed on October 9. Evans said Dewsbury needs to play minutes. Evans said the club has told him he needs to go get minutes if he is not playing at Rovers. Evans said Dewsbury is not at the level to command a place in the squad.
Dewsbury will play his next match for Farnborough on Thursday. The team will host Horsham at home. Bristol Rovers will travel to Fleetwood Town on the same day. That match is in League Two.
